This Web 2.0 tool gathers people together on the internet in a virtual world and provides them with a chance to "collaborate, explore, role-play and experience some others in a safe but compelling way". Actually, these are all supplied through games in which you have your own avatars, your own lands and so on, and you can also study there in the virtual universities with real classmates and teachers. For now, there are approximately 60 schools and univesities that have their own lands on which they educate people in this virtual world. For instance, students are taught in a place that serves as a classroom but different in concept and they can also decorate their dorms themselves. In terms of education, such as for English, this tool may help students learn the language by meeting people of other nationalities, speaking to them like in a foreign country and learning by living. In the classes, safety of respect may be concerned but the virtual world has its own principles and other customs that put limits on the abuse of the system. I think this tool can be very useful for teaching students as they learn by really experiencing the things in some way and they internalize what they learned rather than just having the theoretical, memorized knowledge of it.
