Sam Miller, the prune skinned life guard at the Surf Club's poll was a real character. Irascible but loveable, he had a real way with words. "Watch out for those jellyfish with their long testicles!" was one warning he gave us kids.
Several times during our teen years we'd sneak over the wall to swim in the pool at night. Taking a non-native (not from PV) girl in was especially risky and fun.
The club would have guest artists come and perform and my favorite was watching "Deacon" Andy Griffith from atop the locker room roof along with a few of my friends. Naturally, we aere "uninvited" and had to sneak up there but that was the fun. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
